Baby Tea Loaf - cooking recipe

3/4 c. sugar
1/3 c. shortening
2 eggs
1 (7 1/2 oz.) jar junior squash baby food
1 1/2 c. sifted flour
1/2 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. soda
3/4 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. cloves
1/3 c. chopped nuts
1/3 c. chopped dates
Preparation

Preheat oven to 350\u00b0.
Cream shortening and sugar until light and fluffy.
Add eggs, one at a time, beating after each addition. Add squash.
Sift together flour, baking powder, soda, salt and spices.
Reserve 1/4 cup flour mixture and work it into dates and nuts.
Add flour mixture to squash mixture.
Stir in dates and nuts into batter.
Turn batter into greased 9 x 5 x 3 1/2-inch pan and bake for 1 hour.
