Southern Fried Okra - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 c. buttermilk
    2 Tbsp. salt
    1/4 c. water
    1/2 c. meal
    small fresh picked okra (about 4-inches is best)
    2 eggs
    1 tsp. white pepper
    1/2 c. flour
    2 (about 1 lb.) large sweet onions, cut 1-inch thick
    2 1/2 c. flour, divided
    1 c. buttermilk
    1 egg, lightly beaten
    1 Tbsp. vegetable oil
    2 tsp. paprika
    1/2 to 1 tsp. ground red pepper (cayenne)
    oil (for frying)
Preparation
    Separate onion slices into rings.
    Place rings in large bowl of ice water and let soak for 5 minutes.
    In large bowl, combine 1 cup flour, buttermilk, egg, vegetable oil, paprika and ground red pepper to form batter.
