Sweet Pickles - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 c. lime
    2 gal. water
    8 lb. cucumbers
    9 c. sugar
    2 Tbsp. salt
    2 qt. whole vinegar
    1 tsp. whole cloves
    1 tsp. celery seed
Preparation
    Tie spices in a bag.
    Dissolve lime in water.
    Put in cucumbers which have been sliced.
    Let soak for 24 hours.
    Remove and wash well in 3 or 4 changes of water.
    Make a solution of the sugar, salt, vinegar and spices.
    Pour over pickles and let soak 3 hours, then boil 30 minutes to seal.
