Oatmeal Apple Bars - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 c. unsifted flour
    1 tsp. baking soda
    1/4 tsp. salt
    2 c. quick cooking rolled oats
    1 c. packed light brown sugar
    1 c. soft butter
    4 apples (3 1/2 c.), peeled and chopped
    1 c. chopped nuts
    1/2 c. granulated sugar
    3 Tbsp. butter
Preparation
    Sift together flour, soda and salt.
    Add oats, brown sugar and butter.
    Mix with pastry blender until grainy.
    Put half of mixture into lightly greased 15 x 10 x 1-inch pan.
    Cover mixture with apples.
    Mix nuts and granulated sugar.
    Sprinkle half on apples and dot with butter.
    Put on remaining mix and sprinkle with nuts.
    Bake in slow oven for 1 hour and 15 minutes or until done.
    Cut while still warm.
