White Cake With Pineapple Filling - cooking recipe

2 1/3 c. flour
2 c. sugar
4 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. salt
1 1/3 c. milk
2/3 c. shortening
1 tsp. lemon extract
1 tsp. vanilla
5 unbeaten egg whites
Preparation

Combine dry ingredients into bowl. Add shortening, milk and flavorings. Beat for 2 minutes on medium speed. Add unbeaten egg whites and beat for 2 minutes on medium speed. Pour into 2 (9-inch) floured and greased pans. Bake 25 to 30 minutes. Cool in pans 5 minutes. Cool on cake racks.
