Charlotte'S Green Pickled Tomatoes - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    7 lb. green tomatoes, sliced 1/4-inch thick
    2 c. Mrs. Wages pickling lime
    5 lb. sugar
    3 pt. white vinegar
    5 tsp. mixed pickling spices, wrapped in cheesecloth
Preparation
    Soak tomatoes in pickling lime and 2 gallons of water for 24 hours.
    Do not use aluminum pot.
    Drain, then soak for four hours in water.
    Change water every hour.
