7 Layer Salad - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 head lettuce
    1/2 c. finely chopped onion
    1/2 c. finely chopped celery
    1/2 c. finely chopped green pepper
    2 Tbsp. sugar
    1 bag/box frozen green peas, parboiled
    6 oz. grated Cheddar cheese
    1 pt. mayonnaise
Preparation
    Spread bite-sized bits of lettuce on bottom of large salad bowl.
    Sprinkle onion, celery and green pepper in layers on top of lettuce.
    Add parboiled peas.
    Sprinkle 1 tablespoon sugar on top. Spread 1 pint of mayonnaise on top (like icing) until entirely covered.
    Sprinkle Cheddar cheese (grated) on top.
    Cover with plastic wrap and set in refrigerator for 6 to 8 hours.
    Will keep well for 2 to 3 days.
