Ranch-Style Hash - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 lb. lean ground beef
    2 to 3 1/2 c. canned tomatoes (undrained)
    1 c. chopped green bell pepper
    1/2 c. uncooked long grain rice (NOT INSTANT)
    1/4 tsp. dried basil
    1/2 tsp. salt
    Dash of pepper
    Processed or other cheese slices (if desired)
Preparation
    In a large, non-stick skillet, brown ground beef over medium heat.
    Drain.
    Add tomatoes, bell pepper, onion, rice, basil, salt and pepper.
    Mix gently but well.
    Cover reduce heat to simmer, and continue cooking until rice is cooked and most of the liquid is absorbed.
    Garnish each serving with a slice of cheese, if desired.
