Hickory Nut Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 c. sugar
    1 c. butter or lard
    4 eggs
    1 c. milk
    3 c. flour
    3 tsp. baking powder
    1 tsp. vanilla
    pinch of salt
    1 or 2 c. nuts
Preparation
    Cream shortening and sugar together.
    Add eggs; beat well, then add milk and vanilla.
    Sift dry ingredients together and add to creamed mixture.
    Stir in chopped nuts.
    Makes 3 layers or 1 pan regular cake pan.
    Bake at 350\u00b0.
    This cake has more flavor if baked 1 day before eating.
