Wild Rice Soup - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 4 oz. Pkg Wild Rice, Cooked about 1 hour
    6 T Margarine (butter = too rich?)
    1 T minced onion
    1/2 C flour
    3 C chicken broth
    1/3 C thin-sliced ham, cut into strips
    1/2 C finely shredded carrot
    3 T slivered almonds, finely chopped
    1/2 t salt
    1 C half and half
    1 T white wine or cooking sherry
    1 C skim milk
    1 dash white pepper
Preparation
    Rice should be mostly split when done, about 1 hour & 15 minutes. Saute onion in margarine, add flour and stir; stir into drained rice. Add broth gradually, then remaining ingredients. Bring to boil, simmer 5 minutes. If chilled or frozen to store, thin with milk when rewarming.
