Date Cake(Christmas Cake) - cooking recipe

Ingredients

2 lb. quartered dates
1 lb. nuts, walnuts or pecans
1 lb. candied or glazed whole cherries
1 c. butter
2 c. brown sugar
6 eggs, beaten lightly
2 c. flour
2 tsp. cinnamon
2 tsp. nutmeg
1/2 tsp. salt
2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 c. whiskey
2 tsp. vanilla in whiskey

Preparation

Sprinkle some extra flour over fruit and nuts.
Cream butter, sugar and eggs together.
Add dry ingredients and liquids; blend with fruit and nuts.
Bake 2 1/4 hours at 250\u00b0.
Will make five 1-pound flat type coffee cans or your choice of containers.
