Hot Cross Buns - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2/3 c. sugar
    1 tsp. salt
    2 pkg. dry yeast
    5 c. flour
    1/2 tsp. allspice
    1 1/2 c. milk
    1/2 c. butter
    2 eggs
    1 c. raisins
Preparation
    In large bowl, combine sugar, salt, yeast and 1/2 cup flour. Warm milk and butter (120\u00b0 to 130\u00b0).
    At low speed, beat warm liquid into dry ingredients.
    Beat 2 minutes at medium speed. Beat in 1 egg and 1 cup flour to make thick batter; beat 2 minutes.
    Stir in raisins and add enough flour (2 to 2 1/2 cups) to make soft dough.
    Turn onto floured surface; knead 10 minutes, adding more flour as needed.
    Shape into ball; place in greased bowl, turning to grease top.
    Cover with bowl and let rise until doubled (about 1 hour).
    Punch down; turn onto floured surface and divide into 15 pieces.
    Cover and let rest 15 minutes.
    Grease 13 x 9-inch pan.
    Shape into balls and place in pan.
    Let rise 1 hour.
    Preheat oven to 350\u00b0.
    Cut a cross on each bun; brush with remaining beaten egg.
    Bake 25 minutes or until golden brown. Cool 15 minutes.
    Using icing of 3/4 cup powdered sugar and 1 tablespoon milk to make cross on each bun.
