Refrigerator Cucumber Pickles - cooking recipe

Ingredients

4 c. sugar
4 c. vinegar
1/2 c. salt
1/2 tsp. alum
1 1/3 tsp. celery seed
1 1/3 tsp. mustard
1 1/3 tsp. powdered turmeric
thin sliced cucumbers (to fill 2 gal. jar)
1 onion, cut up in bottom and halfway up jar and mix

Preparation

Boil mixture if desired or mix all together and pour in cold. Keeps in refrigerator indefinitely.
