Date Nut Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients

2 boxes dates (1 large, 1 small)
2 c. sugar
2 eggs
2 c. boiling water
3 c. flour
2 lb. English walnuts
1/2 c. butter
1 tsp. vanilla
1 tsp. soda

Preparation

Dissolve soda in hot water and pour over dates.
Let stand 10 minutes.
Add chopped nuts to cake mixture.
Make a stiff batter. Pour in loaf pan and bake in slow oven at 300\u00b0 to 350\u00b0.
