Million Dollar Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/2 c. shortening
    2 eggs
    2 oz. red food coloring
    1 c. buttermilk
    2 Tbsp. cocoa
    1 Tbsp. vinegar
    1 1/2 c. sugar
    1 tsp. vanilla
    1 tsp. salt
    2 1/2 c. flour
    1 tsp. soda (baking)
Preparation
    Cream shortening and sugar.
    Add eggs and food coloring.
    Sift together flour, salt and cocoa.
    Add alternately with buttermilk after each addition.
    On medium speed, add vanilla.
    Mix baking soda and vinegar and add to batter without beating; mix by hand. Bake at 350\u00b0 for 30 minutes.
    Makes 2 (9-inch) layers.
    Frost with whipped cream frosting.
