Bread And Butter Pickles - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    4 lb. washed, sliced cukes
    1 lb. sliced, skinned onions
    1/2 c. salt
    ice
    3 c. vinegar
    5 c. sugar
    1 1/2 tsp. celery seed
    2 Tbsp. mustard seed
    1 full tsp. turmeric
Preparation
    Put cukes, onions and salt in large pan.
    Add ice.
    Stir well; let set 3 hours.
    Drain and pick ice out.
    Put in kettle and add other ingredients.
    Boil until cukes turn color.
    Pack in hot jars and seal.
