Lye Soup - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 can Merry War lye
    1 qt. cold water
    5 lb. lard or grease
    4 Tbsp. Borax
    1/2 c. household ammonia
Preparation
    Dissolve the Borax in 1 cup hot water. Stir well. Dissolve lye in cold water. Add grease and other ingredients.
    Pour into granite flat pan.
    Let cool. Cut into squares.
