Caramel Candy - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 c. sugar
    2 c. white Karo syrup
    1/2 c. butter (not oleo)
    1 lg. can evaporated milk
    dash of salt
Preparation
    Mix sugar, syrup and salt.
    Boil until it spins a thread (232\u00b0).
    Reduce heat a little.
    Add butter and milk in small portions, alternating, beginning and ending with butter.
    Cook until it reaches 245\u00b0.
    Stir all the time with a wooden spoon. Takes about an hour.
    Pour into buttered 9 X 13 dish to cool (overnight is better).
    Cut into cubes and wrap in wax paper. Note:
    DO NOT make when raining or damp.
