Church Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 box raisins (seeded)
    2 c. hot water
    1 Tbsp. baking soda
    1 c. cold water
    2 c. sugar
    1 tsp. cloves
    1 c. finely cut nuts
    1 scant c. shortening
    1 tsp. salt
    1 tsp. allspice
    2 tsp. cinnamon
    4 c. sifted flour
Preparation
    Cook raisins in 2 cups hot water in large saucepan for 15 minutes.
    Remove from heat; add all other ingredients in same saucepan.
    Pour in a 13 x 9-inch pan and bake at 350\u00b0 for 1 hour.
