Ingredients

3 Tbsp. butter or margarine
2/3 c. sugar
1 egg
2 1/2 c. flour
1 Tbsp. baking powder
1/2 c. cocoa
1 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. nutmeg
2/3 c. milk
Preparation

Cream together butter, sugar and egg.
Add milk and slowly add dry ingredients.
If dough does not seem stiff enough to roll, gradually add small amounts of flour.
Roll on floured surface and cut with doughnut cutter.
Deep-fry in vegetable oil for 2 to 3 minutes, turning once.
Coat with sugar or frosting.
