Rice Pudding - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/2 c. rice
    1/2 c. water
    1 qt. milk
    3/4 c. sugar
    1 tsp. vanilla
    1 egg
    small piece butter
Preparation
    Don't wash rice.
    Place rice in 1/2 cup water; bring to a boil.
    Turn
    heat
    down;
    let
    simmer until all the water is gone, about
    5
    minutes.
    Pour the milk into the rice; simmer for about
    1 hour, stirring once.
    Add the remaining ingredients, except the egg;
    cook for 8 minutes before adding egg to the hot mixture.
    Gradually add egg to the hot mixture.
