Old-Fashioned Banana Pudding - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    3/4 c. sugar
    2 Tbsp. all-purpose flour
    1/4 tsp. salt
    2 c. milk
    3 eggs, separated
    1 tsp. vanilla
    1 pkg. vanilla wafers
    6 medium ripe bananas
Preparation
    Mix flour, salt and half of sugar.
    Put in top of double boiler and add milk slowly.
    Stir constantly over boiling water until thickened.
    Occasionally stir while cooking, 15 minutes more.
    Beat egg yolks in bowl and stir into custard mixture, gradually.
    Return to heat.
    Stir constantly and cook 5 minutes more.
    Remove from heat and add vanilla.
    Line bottom of 1 1/2-quart casserole dish with cookies, bananas and custard mix.
    Repeat twice, ending with custard on top.
    Beat egg whites until stiff, not dry.
    Slowly add 1/4 cup sugar.
    Whip until stiff peaks are formed.
    Spread on pudding and bake at 425\u00b0 for 5 minutes or until delicately brown.
