Queen Elizabeth Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. boiling water
    1 c. chopped dates
    1 tsp. soda
    1 c. sugar
    1/4 c. butter
    1 egg, beaten
    1 tsp. vanilla
    1 1/2 c. sifted plain flour
    1 tsp. baking powder
    1/2 tsp. salt
    1/2 c. pecans
Preparation
    Pour boiling water over dates and baking soda.
    Let stand while mixing other ingredients.
    Add all together.
    Bake at 350\u00b0 for 35 minutes in a 9 x 12-inch pan.
