Glorified Rice - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 (20 oz.) cans pineapple tidbits
    1/4 c. granulated sugar
    2 c. cooked long grain rice (soft, but not mushy)
    24 marshmallows or 2 c. miniature marshmallows
    1 c. heavy cream, whipped to firm peaks
    maraschino cherries and pecan halves (for garnish)
Preparation
    Drain the pineapple; combine it with the sugar.
    Stir until sugar dissolves; add to the rice in a large mixing bowl.
    Fold in the marshmallows; let stand for at least 1 hour.
    Before serving, fold in the whipped cream until blended.
    Garnish with cherries and nuts.
    Chill until ready to serve.
