Ingredients

1 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. allspice
1 tsp. nutmeg
1/2 tsp. cloves
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. salt
3 c. all-purpose flour
1 c. Crisco
2 c. sugar
4 eggs
1 c. blackberry jam or preserves (with seeds)
1 c. buttermilk
Preparation

Sift together cinnamon, allspice, nutmeg, cloves, baking soda, salt and flour and set aside.
Cream together Crisco, sugar and eggs.
Add jam or preserves (with seeds).
Alternate sifted ingredients and buttermilk with the Crisco, sugar and egg mixture and mix well.
Bake at 350\u00b0 for 35 minutes or until cake pulls from the side of the greased and floured cake pan.
Frost with Caramel Icing.
