Basic White Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 1/4 c. flour
    1 1/2 c. sugar
    3 1/2 tsp. baking powder
    1 tsp. salt
    1/2 c. soft shortening
    2/3 c. milk
    1 tsp. flavoring
    1/3 c. milk
    4 egg whites, unbeaten (1/2 to 2/3 c.)
Preparation
    Sift dry ingredients in
    mixing
    bowl.
    Add
    shortening, 2/3 cup milk and flavoring.
    Beat 2 minutes.
    Add
    1/3 cup milk and egg whites. Beat 2 more minutes.
    Bake at 350\u00b0 for 35 minutes or so.
