Ingredients

1/3 c. shortening
1 c. sugar
2 eggs
3/4 c. milk
1 Tbsp. vinegar
1 c. jam (raspberry, blackberry or currant)
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. cloves
1/4 tsp. salt
2 c. flour
1 tsp. soda
1/2 tsp. vanilla
Preparation

Cream shortening and sugar.
Add remaining ingredients; pour into a loaf pan lined with wax paper.
Bake for 35 minutes in a moderately slow oven (325\u00b0 to 350\u00b0).
The cake can be served plain or covered with frosting.
