Bread And Butter Pickles - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    7 qt. sliced cucumbers (medium)
    1 c. plain salt
    5 qt. water
    3 pt. white vinegar
    3 c. sugar
    9 small sliced onions
    1 Tbsp. celery seed
    1 Tbsp. turmeric
Preparation
    Wash and slice cucumbers.
    Make a brine of 1 cup salt and 5 quarts water.
    Soak overnight.
    Drain; pour brine off.
    Take vinegar, sugar, onions, celery seed and turmeric and bring to a boil.
    Put cucumbers in jars (sterilized); pour the mixture over the top of the cucumbers and seal.
    Ready in 4 weeks.
