Chocolate Surprise - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 (10-inch) unbaked deep dish pie shell
    2 sticks unsalted butter
    5 oz. unsweetened chocolate
    2 1/2 c. sugar
    1/2 c. half and half
    4 eggs plus one egg yolk (room temperature)
    1 1/2 tsp. vanilla
Preparation
    Preheat oven to 425\u00b0.
    Bake pie shell 5 minutes.
    Reduce oven to 350\u00b0.
    Melt butter and chocolate together.
    Add sugar and half and half; stir until smooth.
    Pour into a bowl and set in cold water, stirring until cool.
    Remove bowl from water and beat in eggs and yolk.
    Let stand until solid.
    Top with whipped cream (optional).
