My Grandmother'S Gingerbread - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/4 c. sugar
    1/4 c. shortening (solid)
    1 c. molasses
    1 c. boiling water
    1 egg
    2 c. flour
    1 tsp. soda
    1/2 tsp. ginger
    1/2 tsp. cinnamon
    pinch of salt
Preparation
    Sift together dry ingredients.
    Cream shortening.
    Add egg. Add dry ingredients alternately with water; beat well.
    Bake at 350\u00b0.
    Will be thin, but is very good.
    I double recipe for a 13 x 9 x 2-inch pan.
