Chicken And Dumplings - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    4 large chicken breasts
    water, for cooking
    1 tsp. salt
    1 (16-oz.) can chicken broth (optional)
    1 (10 3/4 oz.) can cream of celery or cream of mushroom soup
    1 (10 3/4 oz.) can cream of chicken soup
    salt and pepper to taste
    1/3 c. shortening
    1 c. very hot water
    1 large egg
    1 tsp. salt
    about 3 c. flour
Preparation
    Boil chicken in Dutch oven half full of water with the salt until chicken is tender.
    Remove chicken and set aside.
    To chicken broth in pan, add the 1 can broth and the soups.
    Stir until smooth.
    Add salt and pepper to taste.
    Keep simmering while you make the dumplings.
