Divinity Candy - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    3 c. sugar
    1/4 c. water
    1 tsp. vanilla
    pinch of salt
    3 egg whites, stiffly beaten
    1 c. chopped nuts
    3/4 c. light corn syrup
Preparation
    Cook sugar, water, syrup, vanilla and salt to soft ball stage. Pour 1/2 of syrup in a fine stream over stiffly beaten egg whites while beating constantly.
    Cook remainder of syrup to crackle stage.
    Pour over first mixture in a fine stream and continue beating until it begins to harden.
    Add nuts.
    Spread evenly in well buttered pan.
    When hard enough, cut in 1-inch squares.
    Nut halves may be placed so there will be 1 on top of each piece, if desired.
