Salvation Army Donuts - World War 1 - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    5 c. flour
    2 c. sugar
    2 eggs
    1 Tbsp. melted butter
    5 tsp. baking powder
    1/2 tsp. salt
    1 tsp. nutmeg
    1 3/4 c. milk
Preparation
    Beat eggs lightly. Add sugar and melted butter.
    Add the sifted dry ingredients with milk.
    Knead and shape. Cut with donut cutter. Drop into hot shortening and fry until brown. Drain on brown paper bags.
