Strawberry Parfait - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 qt. strawberries, washed, hulled and mashed
    1 c. sugar
    1 c. sugar
    1/2 c. water
    3 egg whites, beaten stiff
    1 pt. heavy cream, whipped
Preparation
    Sprinkle strawberries with 1 cup of sugar.
    Let stand several hours.
    Strain through a fine sieve.
    Pour into a refrigerator tray.
    Freeze until slightly icy.
    Put in a saucepan 1 cup of sugar and water; boil until syrup spins a thread (about 5 minutes).
    Beating constantly, pour the syrup slowly over the egg whites and keep beating until the mixture is cool.
    Fold in the heavy cream.
