Jailhouse Chili - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 lb. pinto beans, washed and drained
    8 c. water
    1 tsp. salt
    2 Tbsp. cooking oil
    2 c. chopped onions
    2 lb. ground beef
    2 (28 oz.) cans tomatoes (undrained)
    1 (4 oz.) can chopped chilies
    1 (6 oz.) can tomato paste
    3 Tbsp. chili powder
    3 tsp. salt
    1 tsp. sugar
    2 tsp. ground cumin
    1/4 tsp. cayenne pepper
Preparation
    Place
    beans in a large saucepan.
    Add 8 cups water and 1 teaspoon salt.
    Simmer until beans are almost tender (about 2 hours).
    Drain and set aside.
    Heat oil in Dutch oven.
    Add onions and saute until tender.
    Add ground beef and cook until browned, breaking up pieces with a spoon.
    Spoon off fat.
    Add remaining ingredients
    and
    beans.
    Heat
    to boiling.
    Reduce heat to simmer, uncovered, for 1 hour.
