Sand Bakkels - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. shortening (half butter)
    1 c. sugar
    1 egg
    1 tsp. almond extract
    2 1/2 c. flour
Preparation
    Cream the shortening and sugar; add egg and almond.
    Add flour to make stiff dough.
    Pinch off small balls and press into center of small cookie tins; shape up sides.
    Place tins on cookie sheet and bake at 375\u00b0 for 15 minutes.
    Cool before removing from tins. May be served as is or fill with
    favorite filling.
