Ingredients

1 3/4 c. sugar
3 medium or 2 large eggs
1 1/2 tsp. vanilla
1 c. butter or margarine
1 c. buttermilk or sour milk (2 Tbsp. vinegar in 1 c. milk)
4 1/2 c. flour
1 tsp. baking soda
2 tsp. baking powder
1/4 tsp. cream of tartar
Preparation

Cream together the sugar, eggs, vanilla, butter or margarine and buttermilk or sour milk.
Sift together the flour, baking soda, baking powder and cream of tartar.
Add dry ingredient mixture to wet mixture in parts. Drop by spoonfuls onto greased cookie sheets.
May decorate for holiday baking with sprinkles. Bake at 350\u00b0 until golden brown.
