Smothered Steak - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 1/2 lb. round steak
    3/4 tsp. salt
    2 to 3 Tbsp. vegetable oil
    2 medium onions, sliced
    1 Tbsp. vinegar
    1 clove garlic, crushed
    1/4 c. all-purpose flour
    1/8 tsp. pepper
    1/4 tsp. dried whole thyme
    1 c. water
    1 bay leaf
Preparation
    Pound steak to 1/2-inch thickness.
    Cut into 1/4-inch wide strips.
    Combine flour, salt and pepper.
    Dredge steak in flour mixture.
    Brown in hot oil in a large heavy skillet.
    Add remaining ingredients.
    Bring mixture to a boil and cover.
    Reduce heat and simmer 1 hour or until steak is tender.
    Remove bay leaf before serving.
