Ingredients

1 c. white sugar
3/4 c. shortening
4 Tbsp. sorghum molasses
1 egg
1 1/2 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. ginger
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/4 tsp. salt
2 c. flour
Preparation

Mix all ingredients, except flour.
Let stand 20 minutes, then add flour.
Roll into balls the size of a hickory nut.
Coat with sugar.
Bake at 350\u00b0 for 15 to 20 minutes.
Cool and store in stone jar.
