Ingredients

2 c. bread crumbs
1/2 c. melted butter
4 c. sliced apples
1/4 c. brown sugar
1/2 c. white sugar
1/4 tsp. nutmeg
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 juice from 1 lemon
grated lemon rind
1/2 c. hot water
Preparation

Toss crumbs and butter together.
Place bread crumbs on bottom of buttered baking dish.
Spread half of apples over bread crumbs. Sprinkle with sugar and spices and moisten with lemon juice and rind.
Repeat and pour on hot water.
Cover with remaining crumbs.
