Stretchable Stew - cooking recipe
Ingredients

4 slices bacon, cut into 3 equal slices
1 lb. hamburger, made into 4 patties
1 medium onion, cut into 4 slices
4 to 5 carrots, pared and halved
4 to 5 medium potatoes, pared and quartered
salt
pepper
Preparation

Place 3 small bacon pieces on the bottom of each hamburger patty.
Arrange patties bacon side down in a tight fitting lid. Top each patty with a thick onion slice.
Arrange carrots and potatoes around the patties.
Season with salt and pepper to taste.
Cook over high heat until bacon begins to sizzle.
Then cover and simmer over low heat for 1 hour or until meat is done. Serves 4.
