Snow White Taffy - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 1/2 c. sugar
    1/2 c. water
    1/4 c. mild vinegar
    1 Tbsp. butter
    1 tsp. vanilla
Preparation
    Combine first 4 ingredients and stir until sugar is dissolved. Cook without stirring to very firm ball stage.
    Remove from heat; add flavoring.
    Pour into well greased shallow pan.
    When cool enough to handle, pull until white and firm.
    Roll into rope and cut with scissors or knife.
