Bologna Candy - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 c. white sugar
    1 c. dates
    1 c. English walnuts or pecans
    1 c. half and half
Preparation
    Boil sugar and half and half to a soft ball on candy thermometer; add dates and continue to boil until mixture separates from the side of pan.
    Add nuts, remove from heat and continue to stir until thick.
    Pour mixture on a damp cloth and roll like bologna, then slice when cool.
