Hush Puppies - cooking recipe

Ingredients

1 1/2 c. yellow corn meal
1 c. flour, all purpose
2 1/2 tsp. baking powder
2 tbsp. sugar
1 large onion, chopped
1 c. milk
1 egg, beaten
1/2 tsp. salt, optional

Preparation

Heat oil to 375\u00b0.
Mix corn meal, flour, baking powder, sugar, onion, milk, egg, and salt.
Drop by teaspoonfuls into hot oil a few at a time, or until golden brown.
Drain on paper towels.
Makes 2 1/2 dozen.
