Marinara Sauce - cooking recipe
Ingredients

3 Tbsp. olive oil
1 large onion, chopped
6 cloves garlic, sliced
1 lb. fresh mushrooms, sliced, or 3 small cans sliced mushrooms
1/2 tsp. dried red pepper, crushed
1 large (28 oz.) can Italian plum tomatoes, chopped and juices reserved
1 (15 oz.) can tomato sauce
1 tsp. sugar
2 tsp. dried basil, crumbled
1 tsp. dried oregano, crumbled
1 pkg. spaghetti
1/2 c. Parmesan cheese
Preparation

Heat oil in heavy large skillet over medium heat.
Add onion; saute until tender, about 10 minutes.
Add garlic; saute 1 minute. Add mushrooms and crushed red pepper; saute until mushrooms just begin to soften, about 5 minutes.
Add tomatoes (cut up) and reserved juices.
Cover and cook around 2 hours on low heat. Makes enough sauce for 1 package spaghetti.
Makes 6 servings.
