Fruit Drops - cooking recipe
Ingredients

1 c. shortening
2 c. brown sugar, packed
2 eggs
1/2 c. sour milk or buttermilk
3 1/2 c. sifted flour
1 tsp. soda
1 tsp. salt
1 1/2 c. broken pecans
1 c. candied cherries, halved
2 c. dates, cut up
Preparation

Mix the first 3 ingredients well.
Stir in milk.
Sift flour, soda and salt together and add.
Stir in the rest of ingredients. Chill for at least an hour.
Drop by rounded teaspoonfuls about 2 inches apart on lightly greased cookie sheet.
Bake at 350\u00b0 for 8 to 10 minutes (until almost no imprint is seen when touched lightly).
Makes 8 dozen.
Mellows with age.
