Gorga (Danish) Pickles - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    4 large cucumbers
    1 1/2 c. vinegar
    1 1/2 c. sugar
    1 1/2 c. water
    dash of mustard seed and turmeric
    sprig of dill
Preparation
    Peel cucumbers and scoop out seeds.
    Cut in strips and soak in water with 3 teaspoons salt overnight.
    Drain; don't rinse.
    Make syrup of 1 1/2 cups vinegar, sugar and water (a little mustard seed and turmeric).
    Bring to boil and simmer 5 minutes.
    Pack pickles asparagus fashion in sterilized jars.
    Pour hot boiling syrup over, full to top and seal.
    Before sealing, put sprig of dill in each jar.
    Makes about 3 pints.
