Pennsylvania Red Cabbage - cooking recipe
Ingredients

2 Tbsp. bacon drippings or oil
1/4 c. brown sugar
1/4 c. vinegar
1/4 c. water
1 1/4 tsp. salt
1/2 - 1 tsp. caraway seeds
dash pepper
4 c. shredded red cabbage
2 c. cubed, unpeeled apples
2 - 3 slices bacon, cooked and crumbled
Preparation

Heat brown sugar, vinegar, water, salt, pepper and caraway seeds in bacon drippings.
Add cabbage and apples stirring to coat.
Add crumbled bacon.
Cover and cook over medium low heat, stirring occasionally.
For crisper cabbage, cook 15 minutes.
For tender cabbage cook 30 minutes.
