Oatmeal Bread - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. rolled oats (breakfast oatmeal cereal)
    1 1/2 tsp. salt
    1 Tbsp. melted shortening
    1 yeast cake or 1 pkg. dry yeast
    1/2 c. molasses or white or brown sugar
    5 1/2 c. sifted flour
Preparation
    Pour 2 cups boiling water over rolled oats; let sit for 1 hour, then add yeast softened in 1 cup warm water followed by remaining ingredients.
    Add flour gradually, stirring until dough stiffens, then knead until all flour is absorbed.
    Let dough rise in greased bowl until double.
    Punch down.
    Form into loaves.
    Let rise again until double, then bake at 375\u00b0 until golden brown, approximately 1 hour.
    Remove from pans and cool on rack.
