Date Nut Bars - cooking recipe
Ingredients

1 c. Crisco shortening
3/4 c. sugar
1 tsp. vanilla
2 c. flour
1 c. chopped pecans
1 c. brown sugar
2 eggs
2 Tbsp. water
1 1/2 c. chopped dates, dredged in flour
Preparation

Cream together shortening, sugars and eggs.
Stir in water and vanilla.
Stir in flour gradually, mixing well.
Mix in dates and nuts.
Press cookie dough into greased jelly roll pan (dough should be about 1/4-inch deep).
Bake at 350\u00b0 until lightly browned.
(Do not overcook.
Dough in oven should still be slightly puffy looking.)
Cook 10 to 15 minutes.
Cut into bars.
